Box-office: Shahrukh, Alia’s ‘Dear Zindagi’ scores average

Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Dear Zindagi’ registers an opening day occupancy of 45-50%. The film was highly liked by the audience and critics also gave good reviews to the film and also praised Alia and SRK’s performance. Looking into the initial crows, it is estimated that Gauri Shinde’s ‘Dear Zindagi’ will earn around 8-10 crores in the opening day.

The morning shows register 60% occupancy in metros and 45% occupancy across the country but gradually in the evening the occupancy rates soars up. Made on a budget of 22 crore and spent 7-8 crore on promotion, ‘Dear Zindagi’ turned out to be an average crowd puller. Saturday and Sunday will be a game changer for 'Dear Zindagi'. 

The film released on 1200 screens in India and over 600 screens in the overseas market, making it a total of 1800 screens. The unusual pairing of 51-year old Shahrukh and 23-year old Alia Bhatt won audience's  heart.

‘Dear Zindagi’ saw a midweek release in UAE and collected Rs 1.19 crore on Wednesday. ‘Dear Zindagi’ is expected to collect Rs 8-10 crore on the first day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared, ” #DearZindagi had a midweek release in USA [Thanksgiving Weekend]… Collected an IMPRESSIVE $ 172,571 [? 1.19 cr] on Wednesday. @Rentrak.”

Raj Bansal, a film distributor and multiplex owner, tweeted: "#DearZindagi @iamsrk @aliaa08 opens with average collections during morning shows all over. Not a good sign ..... hope it picks up."

Meanwhile, the critics gave rave reviews to ‘Dear Zindagi' and Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s performance was highly applauded.

Alia Bhatt portrays the role of a budding cinematographer, who has gone through ups and down in life and she struggles with life to cope with few broken relationship while Shahrukh Khan plays a a psychiatrist in the film, who teaches Alia the real meaning life and happiness.
