Box-office: ‘Roy’ earns 28 crores in the opening weekend


Despite tagging the film boring, Royng>Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Roy’ starts off well and managed to earn a whopping Rs 28 crores in its opening weekend. Released last Friday, the film earns the credit of becoming the highest grossing movie of 2015.

‘Roy’ starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor was benefitted due to the Valentine’s Day weekend. The movie earned Rs 11 crore on February 14.

Trade analysts Taran Adrash tweeted about the film’s business##Roy Fri 10.40 cr, Sat 11.16 cr, Sun 7.12 cr [biz affected due to cricket match]. Total: ? 28.68 cr. India biz.

2015 had a dull start with all the big budget movies like ‘Tevar’ ‘Shamitabh’ had failed to make any mark at the box-office but ‘Roy’ managed to beat Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ which had earned Rs 9 crore on the opening day.

Roy, directed by Vikramjit Singhwas released in 2500 screens.

However, the collection of ‘Roy’ dropped on Sunday due to the India-Pakistan World Cup match. The entire nation was gripped by the cricket fever and movie mania took a backseat.

Hopefully, it is expected that ‘Roy’ will pick up some good numbers before the next big release.
