Box-office: ‘Phantom’ mints in Rs.21.24 crore in two days


Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom’ starring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan collected a promising 21 crore in two days of its release basically after a dump start. In the opening day, the film collected Rs.8.46 crore on its opening day. The film has shown a good growth over two days.

Released ahead Raksha Bandhan, ‘Phantom’  witnessed a 51 percent growth on the day of Rakshan Bandhan on Saturday, earning Rs.12.78 crore, therefore totaling to Rs.21.24 crore.

Trade analysts Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film’s business#Phantom biz witnesses SOLID 51% growth on Sat [Raksha Bandhan]. Fri 8.46 cr, Sat 12.78 cr. Total: ? 21.24 cr [on 2600 screens].

“We are overwhelmed with the response. It’s an amazing beginning,” producer Sajid Nadiadwala said in a statement.

Earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about ‘Phantom’ business #Phantom Fri ? 8.46 cr. India biz... Biz picked up in evening/night shows. It is too early to predict the film’s fate because the weekend collection might change the number. Possibility is high that ‘Phantom’ will show a big jump over the weekend.

‘Phantom’ made at a whopping budget of Rs 55 crore is based on S Hussain Zaidi’s bestseller Mumbai Avengers. In the film, Saif and Katrina play undercover agents who are assigned with the task of to eliminate the mastermind of Mumbai's 26/11 attacks.
