Box-office: Opening day collection of Shahrukh Khan's ‘Fan’

Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Fan’ hits the theatres yesterday and the film is full of masala. ‘Fan’ is Shahrukh Khan’s way of paying tribute to his billion of fans across the globe who made him what he is today. ‘Fan’ shows Shahrukh Khan in dual role; he plays himself and also his fan. His make-up was highly talked about. It was commendable.

‘Fan’ is this year’s biggest release and was highly awaited one. Considering the buzz, the film has created from day one, Manish Sharma’s ‘Fan’ is expected to make good opening day collection.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh explains, "There's tremendous buzz around the film and it brings a new Shah Rukh to all. He isn't the romantic hero doing a mushy romance here. In Fan, he's let go of himself and been someone we have never seen him be. He's got out of his comfort zone and the response has been incredible."

‘Fan’ received mixed reactions from critics but Taran asks everyone not to worry too much. "It happened the same way with Bajrangi Bhaijaan too. There were mixed reactions initially but look where it reached. Decide it for yourself after you watch the film. Don't go by early reviews."

The film has the widest 2016 release, it was released in around 3500 screens in India and globally released in 1100 screens, which means ‘Fan’ was released across 4600 screens worldwide.

So far, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ has the highest opening day box-office collection, it made 12.35 crores on day one. So now the question is whether ‘Fan’ could score high over ‘Airlift? Adarsh explains, "It's too early to predict anything but this should definitely be the biggest opener of the year so far. It will surely cross Airlift's opening day figures with ease."

When asked will ‘Fan’ cross the Rs 20 crore mark on Friday as well? "It should. It definitely will, mostly. Fingers crossed and toes too. It has started off really well," Taran signs off with a smile.
