Box-office: ‘Brothers’ earns Rs 36.63 crore in two days


Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Brothers’ released on Friday on the eve of Independence Day has been able to impress the mass audience. Many theatres in India run to a packed houses. The film won the heart of the audience. ‘Brothers’ is high in emotions and the audience liked it immensely.

The film earned Rs 15.20 crore on its opening day and became the second highest opener of 2015. The first being Salman Khan’s last outing ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

The film minted in Rs.21.43 crore on its second day and the total collection of two days wrapped up to Rs.36.63 crore.

Confirming the news, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Brothers biz witnesses EXCELLENT growth on Sat. Fri 15.20 cr, Sat 21.43 cr. Total: ? 36.63 cr. Should have a STRONG Sunday too."

Another critic Joginder Tuteja too predicted an awesome result of ‘Brothers’.

"As expected, #Brothers takes a very good jump on Sat. Comfortably crosses 20 cr and expected to be in 22-24 cr range. Sunday should cross 20," he had tweeted. The good word-of-mouth and the holiday factor have helped the film to perform well at the collection centres.

However, Akshay Kumar has broken his previous box-office record of his own films with 'Brothers'. Akshay’s previous outing ‘Rowdy Rathore’, had minted in Rs 29 crore in two days which is less compared to ‘Brothers’.

‘Brothers’ box-office collection also suppressed ‘Baby’ and ‘Gabbar Singh’. ‘Brothers’ also proved magical for Sidharth Malhotra because his last film, ‘Ek Villain’ had raked in Rs.32.22 crore in two days. 

‘Brothers’ directed by Manish Malhotra is expected to earn more in the coming days.
