Box-office: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ starts off with a bang


Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer ‘Airlift’ not only opened with good reviews but also performed exceptionally well at the box-office. The film starts off with a bang and showed an impressive opening day collection. The film registered opening day occupancy of 65%.

The film has not only performed well in India but also showed remarkable performance in UAE-GCC.

Akshay took to Twitter to confirm that the film was released in about 70 screens in the Middle East on Thursday, and earned approximately AED 900,000 (Rs 1.66 crore) on the first day.

Audience is also showering huge love on ‘Airlift, based on the biggest evacuation of the world carried out by India.

The movie will obtain the highest opening day collections of 2016 at the Indian Box Office. Sex-comedy ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3’ also released on the same day but viewers are opting for ‘Airlift’.

‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ features an ensemble cast featuring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasini and Mandana Karimi. In many parts of India, ‘Airlift’ also saw advance booking.

On looking at the audience response, it is highly expected that ‘Airlift’ will dominate the weekend. With Pubic Day round the corner, ‘Airlift’ is sure to gain some profit from the patriotic sentiments of the people.

‘Airlift’, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, is based on the biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war. The film features Akshay and Nimrat Kaur in the lead roles, while Feryna Wazheir, Purab Kohli, Lena, Kumud Mishra and Prakash Belawadi are playing the supporting characters.
