Box-office: ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, ‘Shivaay’ open with a bang
Diwali’s two biggest releases ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’ opened with a bang. But it is Karan Johar’s movie that fared well at the box-office compared to Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is doing well at the multiplexes and ‘Shivaay’ is collecting good numbers in single theatres.
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is being released in large number of multiplexes across the country and ‘Shivaay’ showed good result mostly in single theatres. Both the movies opened with a bang and are doing exceptionally well mainly in northern circuits. Both the movies were released over 2800 to 3000 screens.
ADHM has been made at an approximate budget of Rs 70 crore with about Rs 10-15 crore spent on promotions. It has already earned about Rs 50 crore after the pre-release sale of rights, according to sources.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil released in UAE on Thursday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared, “#ADHM starts off with a BANG in UAE-GCC… Collects $ 554,000 [? 3.70 cr] on Thu… OUTSTANDING!”
In the morning shows, both ADHM and ‘Shivaay’ registered an average of 70 percent occupancy. Positive reviews from critics and good words of mouth are taking both the movies to a considerable height.
Action lovers are liking ‘Shivaay’ a lot while the audience who are die-hard fans of love story are opting for Ranbir Kapoor starrer ADHM.
Early estimates say ‘Ae Dil Hai Muskhil’ and ‘Shivaay’ have collected over Rs 14 crore and Rs 11 crore, respectively, on the first day. ‘Ae Dil Hai Muskhil’ has broken the box-office record of Ranbir Kapoor's last release ‘Tamasha’, which collected Rs 10.87 crore on its opening day.
On the other hand, ‘Shivaay’ defeats the opening day collection of Ajay Devgn's last outing ‘Drishyam’ that garnered Rs 8.5 crore on its first day.
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ released amid controversy and hostility but audience has showered immense love on it and the film is running great in this festive season while ‘Shivaay’ is also not far behind ADHM.
