Bollywood’s spirited actress Kajol turns 41!

Bollywood’s vivacious actress Kajol celebrates her 41st birth day today. Born to star parents Tanuja and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee on August 5, 1974, Kajol was quick to climb the success-ladder in the film industry. With her energetic personality and effortless acting skills, she carved a niche for herself in the industry.

Kajol is a living example that defies the old notion that marriage and motherhood put an end to one’s career as a leading lady. Kajol proved it wrong by giving superhits like ‘Fanaa’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’ post marriage and motherhood. She looked gorgeous as ever in these films

Kajol made her film debut with ‘Bekhudi’ in 1992 at the age of 16 while she was still studying. Though the film did not do well, she got noticed and was cast in ‘Baazigar’ opposite Rukh Khan and the film was a major commercial success.

The duo went on to do successful films together such as ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’. Their pairing in films has been much appreciated due to the incredible chemistry between them and have become one of the most popular on-screen couples of Bollywood.

Infact, Kajol is once again being paired with Shah Rukh in the upcoming film ‘Dilwale’ and fans are eager to see them set the screen afire after a gap of five years.

Kajol showed her versatility as an actress with films like ‘Gupt’, where she played a negative role and psychological thriller ‘Dushman’ where she did double role.

In a career spanning over two decades Kajol has done films with the all the regining stars of the industry of her time including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and husband Ajay Devgn.

With a little more than forty films to her credit, she holds the record of five Filmfare Best Actress Awards, and shares it with her maternal aunt Nutan. She also won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in Negative Role for her film ‘Gupt’. And like her aunt, she too has been bestowed with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country.

Kajol is involved in several philanthropic endeavours and also works as a supervisor for her husband’s production company.
