Bollywood remembers Yash Chopra on his 83rd birth anniversary

Yash Raj Chopra who gave Bollywood many memorable films like ‘Deewar’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Veer-Zaara’ and others was born on September 27, 1932 in undivided India’s Lahore. It was the 83 birth anniversary of the ace filmmaker on Sunday. Yash Chopra worked with almost all the renowned stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Jaya Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor etc. He was known in the industry as ‘King of romance’ because of his innumerable romantic hits. He last directorial ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif released posthumously.

Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to share their memories and pay tribute to the six times National Film Award winning director.

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar who lent her voice in many of Yash Chopra’s films shared that he was like an elder brother to her. “Today is Yash Chopra birth anniversary. He was like my elder brother. He was a famous director and producer but more than that he was a great person," she said.

Amitabh Bachchan who worked with the director in his films like ‘Trishul’, ‘Mohabatein’, ‘Veera Zaara’ among others, shared some old pictures of him with Yash Chopra and wrote, “Yash ji's birth anniversary... Yash Chopra and the glorious times spent together..." “Yash Chopra ji’s birth anniversary falls on the same day as Ravi Chopra his nephew… with whom I had great times too,” Big B posted another tweet.

The ‘Shehenshah’ and Ravi Chopra who passed away last year worked together in films like ‘Baghba’, ‘Baabul’, ‘Bhootnath’ and ‘Bhoothnath Returns’.

Filmmaker Karan Johar called him a “father figure” and posted, “To my favourite film maker and my father figure....happy birthday Yash sold dreams like no one else can.”

Rishi Kapoor who worked with the director in ‘Chandni’, ‘Doosra Aadmi’, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ said he was “eternal romanticist” and tweeted, “Remember you Yashji! Eternal Romanticist! World misses your films.”

Actress Divya Dutta who worked with the late filmmaker in ‘Veer-Zaara’ and Shilpa Shukla who debuted with his production’s ‘Chak De! India’ also remembered him.

“Remembering yash uncle on his bday!! He made sure he always called to wsh me on mine.. Warmth personified! Ur missed yash Chopra!!”  Divya posted while Shilpa felt “fogtunate and blessed” to have warked with him. “A very happy 83rd to Shri Yash Chopra ji. Fortunate & blessed to have worked eat & pray together #YashChopra gratitude,” she tweeted.
