Bollywood actresses who married entrepreneurs

‘Ready’ actress Asin Thottumkal is ready to tie the knot with her beau Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax by the end of the year. Her hush-hush relationship with the mobile phone company honcho took Bollywood as well as her fans by surprise when it was revealed some time back. According to Asin, she and Rahul had been together for almost four years.

Asin is one of the many actresses who have chosen entrepreneurs over their male colleagues in the film industry. In the past also, a lot of Bollywood beauties have ventured out of the industry and settled down with corporate men.


The beautiful actress of Bollywood dazzled the silver screen during the 1960s and 70s. Mumtaz married Indian origin Ugandan businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974. It is said that Madhvani had a huge crush on the yesteryear beauty. The couple has two daughters. One of them – Natasha is married to Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan.

Tina Munim

The bubbly actress was a resounding success during the 1980s. She is married to Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, Chairman of Reliance, and they have two sons. Back in mid-eighties, Anil was charmed by Tina’s beauty and they started dating. But since Anil’s parents were against the relationship, they stopped seeing each other for four years. Later, Anil convinced his parents and the tied the knot in 1992.

Reema Sen

The Bengali actress is mostly known for her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She also appeared in a few Hindi films like ‘Malamaal Weekly’, ‘Akrosh’, ‘Jaal: The Trap’ and others. Reema is married to Delhi-based restaurateur Shiv Karan Singh. The duo met through a common friend and courted for about a year before tying the knot in a quiet ceremony in 2012. They have a two-and-half-year-old son Ruderaveer Singh.  

Ayesha Takia

The actress who appeared in films like, ‘Tarzaan: The Wonder Car’, ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, ‘Wanted’ etc, got married to her long-time boyfriend Farhan Azmi in March 2009. Farhan is a builder and a restaurateur and owns restaurants - Koyla, Cafe Basilico, Basilico House and Chai Coffi - in Mumbai. The couple has a son. Farhan is the son of politician Abu Azmi.

Kim Sharma

The dusky beauty who was seen in films like ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘Tumse Accha Kaun Hai’, married Kenyan businessman Ali Punjani in August 2010. Ali is of Indian origin but his family has been living in the African country for generations. According to the former actress, Ali is one of the most important people in Kenya and has a finger in every business there - from real estate to finance!

Amrita Arora

The model-actress and VJ is best known for being the sister of Malaika Arora Khan. She married her boyfriend Shakeel Ladak in 2009. Shakeel who hails from Hyderabad is into construction business. He was a divorcee when he met Amrita. The couple has two sons. It is said that Amrita was pregnant with her first child before marriage.

Gayatri Joshi

She was an advertising model and represented brands such as Ponds, Sunsilk, Bombay Dyeing, Godrej and others, before appearing in her only Bollywood film ‘Swades’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2004. She married billionaire Vikas Oberoi in August 2005. Vikas is the Managing Director of Oberoi Constructions. Gayatri and Vikas have two sons. 

Celina Jaitley

The green-eyed former beauty queen and actress married her long-time partner Peter Haag in July 2011 in a hush-hush ceremony held in a 1,000-year-old monastery in Austria. Peter is an Austrian businessman, hotelier and marketer based in Dubai. The couple resides in Dubai with their twin sons. 

Urvashi Sharma

The actress and model tied the knot with her entrepreneur-cum-actor boyfriend Sachiin Joshi in 2012. Sachiin is the son of Jagdish Mohanlal Joshi, owner and founder of JMJ Group of Industries. He is the vice-chairman of JMJ Group which deals in hotels, construction, gym and spa among others. After proving his business acumen, he stepped into the glamour world of films. The couple has a one-and-half-year-old daughter Samaira.
