BMC demolishes illegal cabin of Anil Kapoor’s office

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor faces the wrath of BMC. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on last Friday destroyed an unlawful alteration in Anil Kapoor's office located at Santacruz West. The office cabin and a part of the office were removed.

A senior civic official said, "We have demolished a cabin and partition constructed inside the office. The demolition of the illegal structures were carried out on November 24." The demolition was carried out by the H west ward officials.

"The BMC had selectively carried out demolitions in the past too. When I raised the issue, they demolished an awning that I had put up outside my fourth-floor office," said Dabbawala, who complained about it to top civic officers and even sought information under the Right to Information Act. "Through RTI, I learnt that the BMC had served notices to several occupants for extentions. Some had even carried out unauthorized RCC construction in the offices."

Sharad Ughade, assistant municipal commissioner, H-West Ward, said, "Four structures were partly demolished following due process of law. Besides, a car showroom on the second floor that was issued a stop-work notice, was razed too." He said Kapoor's office had unauthorized "full height partitions. These can be regularized but no application was made to the BMC for it," he added. Despite repeated attempts, Kapoor could not be contacted. "He is abroad and will not be able to revert," said a representative at his Santacruz office.

On the professional front, Ail Kapoor is working on ‘Fanney Khan’ starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao.
