'Black' postponed

Rani MukherjeeEveryone’s curious about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next offering Black. There were talks that Bhansali was determined to release the film before the year 2004 comes to a close, so that it could qualify for the National Awards.
While Bhansali is maintaining a stoic silence about the release date of the film, it’s learnt that
the film would hit the screens only next year. “That’s true,” Anshuman Swami of Applause [producers of Black] informs me, “We have decided to release the film on January 21, 2005.”

The reason for the postponement is attributed to the fact that the work is still to be completed. Besides, the promos of the film aren’t ready if the film is to hit the marquee in December [it’s a common practice to promote the film for at least one/one-and-a-half months prior to the theatrical release of the film].

With Subhash Ghai’s KISNA, Vikram Bhatt’s ELAAN and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black releasing in January, there’s so much to look forward to in the first month of 2005.
