Birthday special: Recalling Rishi Kapoor’s Life till now!

Rishi Kapoor was the heart throb of millions in the yesteryear’s. He belongs to the first family of actors in the Hindi Film Industry. Rishi Kapoor is the second son of Raj Kapoor, his elder brother being Randhir and younger Rajiv Kapoor. On his birthday on the September 4th let us go down memory lane to recall all the fond moments of his that has been captured on celluloid.

Film career-

Many think that he made his first appearance on screen with “Bobby” which starred Dimple Kapadia. In reality, he debuted with “Mera Naam Joker” (1970) where he played his father’s role as a child. In 1971 he also won a National Film Award for Best Child Artist for the same. This itself goes to highlight what he was to be in the future.

Bobby was a film that was made for the youth and it had an instant connect with the youngsters as soon as it released in 1973. Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia both were then looked upon as a hit romantic pair. The second time when this pair was seen on screen was in 1985’s film “Saagar” which was a blockbuster. The film starred the finest actors- Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Kamal Haasan. The film’s story and credible acting were all applauded by critics and audiences alike.

Rishi Kapoor has many films to his credit. He has done over 100 films were he plays a romantic role. He and his real life love Neetu Singh made a popular pair as well on screen. The films that they were a part of in the 70s were Khel Khel Mein which released in 1975, Kabhie Kabhie (1976), the very popular Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), “Doosra Aadmi” (1978) and Sargam  (1979).

He also appeared in hits like “Karz”-which was later remade-(1980), “Prem Rog” (1982), “Coolie” (1983) and “Chandni” -where he starred opposite Sridevi-(1989).

In the 1990’s he appeared in his father’s last directorial debut “Henna”. Raj Kapoor died beore completing the film and thus Randhir Kapoor directed the unfinished portions. The film Prem Granth was produced by all the three brothers. 1992 and 1993 saw the release of Bol Radha Bol, Deewana, and Damini which were hits. After that there was a low phase in his career with his movies unable to click at the box-office.

The only film that was directed by him was Aa Ab Laut Chalein that starred Aishwarya Rai. After this low phase he eventually started doing supporting roles in films. In the more recent times he has acted in films like “Hum Tum”, “Fanaa”, “Namaste London”, “Delhi 6”, “Love Aaj Kal”, “Luck by Chance”, “Patiala House” and the list only continues. All these films have been a huge success and his performance too has been appreciated in all.

In 2010 he paired up with his wife Neetu Singh in the film “Do Dooni Char” in the lead roles, for which he also won the “Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor”. Recently, in Housefull  2 he worked with his brother Randhir Kapoor. The duo was seen onscreen for the first time in this comedy flick.

His portrayal of Rauf Lala in the 2012 film “Agneepath” surprised everybody. In his four decades long career this was the first time when he executed a negative role. He took all his fans by surprise. The finesse with which he acted out the role will be etched out in the memories of all. Rishi Kapoor is one of the best actors the Hindi Film Industry has ever had and therefore he has also won many Film awards for his fine acting skills in his long career.

Personal Life-

Rishi Kapoor married his ladylove in 1981 at the age of twenty-nine. Today they are the proud parents of Riddhima Kapoor Sahani and Ranbir Kapoor.
