June 9th marks the 29th birthday of the talented Sonam Kapoor who has won over critics and fans with her acting skills and infectious smile. She is also counted among the most stylish persons in Bollywood due to her impeccable fashion sense. People are still talking about her appearance in Cannes this year, where she turned heads with her fashionable clothes and charming personality.  Sonam’s close friend Jacqueline Fernandez had announced earlier on social networking sites that this weekend will be dedicated to the celebrations of Sonam’s birthday.  The girls kept their word and partied heavily on Sunday, 8th June.

The first phase of partying was held at a high-end club in Mumbai. Sonam was seen with Jacqueline Fernandez, another close buddy Karisma Kapoor and sister Rhea Kapoor. Karishma is not seen much in social gatherings these days after her divorce from husband Sanjay Kapoor. But she gladly made an exception for her close friend Sonam. The ever stylish Sonam was seen in a silky blue palazzo and a chic high necked crop top. From there Sonam went to her bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Here she was spotted in a no makeup look with specs and looked cool in top, jeans and flip-flops. BFF Jacqueline Fernandez later joined her there. During the celebrations, Sonam cut not one but two fancy looking cakes. One cake was shaped like the now famous Dolce & Gabbana gown in which she was seen at the Cannes. The other cake had miniatures of Sonam’s favorite fashion items (shoes, bags, dresses etc) on top of them. It looks like the `Masakali` girl had an absolute blast.

It is hard to believe that today’s stunning Sonam was once an obese child. Daughter of veteran star Anil Kapoor, Sonam’s first brush with films was as an assistant director. She and her future co-star Ranbir Kapoor worked as assistants of Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of the film ‘Black’. 3 years later she and Ranbir made their acting debuts in Bhansali’s film ‘Saawariya’. On Bhansali’s request, Sonam achieved the difficult task of losing 35 kg weight. Though the film did not do well at the box office, Sonam caught the eye of the critics with her acting. The year 2013 was a great period for Sonam as two of her films, ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ proved to be major commercial and critical successes. Apart from acting, Sonam is also one of the busiest celebrity brand endorsers in India.
