Bigg Boss 9: Mandana’s sole aim is to connect with Indian viewers

Controversial reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ is known for bringing in foreign celebrities to spice up the show and this time it is the sultry Iranian model-actress Mandana Karimi who is set to add the zing.

Mandana made her Bollywood debut with Shivamm Nair’s thriller ‘Bhaag Johnny’ which was produced by Vikram Bhatt and also starred Kunal Khemu and Zoa Morani. However, the actress is not participating in the show to get film offers.

According to Mandana, at the moment, she has her hands full with interesting projects and her sole purpose of entering the Bigg Boss house is to make a connect with the Indian audience.

“I don’t want a push to my career. I don’t crave for visibility and I am not looking for job offers. I have good films, which include Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’. My only reason to join this show was to connect with my fans,” the Iranian hottie was quoted by PTI.

She will be next seen in Randeep Hooda starrer ‘Main Aur Charles’, which also stars Richa Chadda, Tisca Chopra and Adil Hussain. She was also seen in a cameo appearance in ‘Roy’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez.

The Tehran-born actress, whose father is an Indian, said she has never had any apprehensions about being a part of the controversial show and is grateful that she had been approached for it.   

“People in India love ‘Bigg Boss’ and I will get an opportunity to show myself to the people. It is a great show. It is the biggest show. And also it is being hosted by one of the most loved celebrities in India, Salman Khan. I am really grateful,” the 27-year-old added.

The ninth edition of the show themed ‘Double Trouble’ premiered on Sunday night. As per the theme each contestant entered the Big Boss house with a partner. Mandana’s partner for the show is VJ, model-actor Keith Sequeira, boyfriend of model Rochelle Maria Rao who is a co-contestant of ‘Bigg Boss 9’.

Television actors and ex-lovers Roopal Tyagi and Ankit Gera, actress Kishwar Merchant and her beau Suyash Kumar, Aman Verma and ‘Roadies X2’ winner Prince, who are already household names are participating in the show.

When asked if being a newcomer is a disadvantage for her, Mandana said, “I don’t think TV people have an advantage. I think perception about you changes every single day when you participate in ‘Bigg Boss’. There is no disadvantage for me. I want to be loved by people in India.”

“I think the audience will be entertained by my accent as they will find it very funny. Also my fitness routine is something, which I think they will find interesting,” she added.

Claudia Cielsa, Sunny Leone, Sofia Hayat, Elli Avram, Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds are among some of the other foreign celebrities who were seen in the previous seasons of ‘Bigg Boss’.
