‘Bigg Boss 10’ kicks off; celebs become servants of common men
The much-awaited reality show ‘Bigg Boss 10’ has finally kicked off with eight ‘common men’ participating alongside seven celebrities. Soon after host Salman Khan introduced the contestants and sent them inside the house, the first ‘twist’ of the season was announced.
On the first day of the show, Bigg Boss announced that common people in the house will be the ‘malik’ (rulers) while the celebrities will serve them as ‘sevaks’. Not just this, the ‘sevaks’ will have to share a common bed among themselves, while the commoners get a separate bed of their own.
Earlier in the day, Salman first introduced the audience to the ‘Bigg Boss 10’ house. He toured the house with a group of common people and showed them every corner of the house while telling about some historic moments of the previous seasons.
Back on stage, Salman introduces the first ‘common’ contestant, Swami Om Ji Maharaj, who claimed to know what others think. He got talking with Salman about the actor’s marriage, but refused to disclose the name. Salman then called for the first celebrity contestant, Lopamudra Raut, who represented India at the Miss United Continents pageant this year. The Swami and the beauty enter the house.
The next to enter the house was Manveer Gujar, a dairy farm owner from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Om and Lopamudra welcome him. He strikes a conversation with Lopamudra commenting on the long trail of her outfit which didn’t go down well with her. She excused herself and went away, and a friction between the two was evident.
The next contestant was Nitibha Kaul, a Kashmiri-origin girl based in Delhi, who left her job at Google to participate in the show. She had also participated in Miss India beauty pageant. She entered the house with celebrity contestant Rohan Mehra, known for playing ‘Naksh’ in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’.
At this point, the first celebrity guest of the season, Deepika Padukone entered the stage with a stunt performance. She unveiled the special India trailer of her maiden Hollywood film ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ on the show. Deepika also entered the Bigg Boss house and spent time with the contestants.
With Deepika inside the house, Salman introduced celebrity contestant VJ-turned-actress Bani, who arrives on stage with a dance performance. Alongside her, Delhi-girl Lokesh Kumari Sharma is introduced as the ‘common’ contestant. According to her, celebrities throw tantrums, so Salman declares a sari-draping competition between her and Bani which Bani wins. Both of them enter the house and meet Deepika and the other contestants.
After a while, Deepika exits the house, and when Salman asked her about her opinion regarding the contestants, the actress said she wouldn’t like to exploit her advantage and influence the audience’s views. Salman appreciated her.
Karan Mehra, aka Naitik of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ was the next celebrity contestant to enters the house as the next contestant. Karan was followed by common contestant Akansha Sharma from Gurugram (Gurgaon). She is the estranged wife of cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s younger brother Zoravar Singh who left her in-laws’ home after four months of marriage. She spoke about her bad marriage and revealed that she just wanted divorce from her husband and not a single penny.
Television actor Gaurav Chopra and Manoj Punjabi from Jaipur enter the show as next two contestants. Priyanka Jagga, who is a mother of two kids entered the house next, accompanied by celebrity content Rahul Dev.
Navin Prakash was the next common contestant from Bihar who works in Kolkata, West Bengal, as a teacher. He enters the show along with Bhojpuri film actress Antara Biswas, known by her screen name Monalisa.
Salman wrapped up the show by hinting that the new season will be full of twists and shocking stuff and it would be interesting to see how far the celebrities and non-celebs go to maintain an upper-hand.
