Big B’s crazy fans break cordons, move into his bungalow

Amitabh Bachchan has been following a ritual for the last 29 years and that is every Sunday he comes out of his house and waves to the anxiously waiting crowd who come from far off places to get a glimpse of the megastar. This Sunday was also like every Sunday and Senior Bachchan came into the balcony to wave to his fans. But the fans could not hold their emotions and they pushed their way breaking the cordons into his Juhu bungalow, Jalsa. The crowd became crazy and went out of control.

However, after some time they moved out. Amitabh Bachchan, who is very regular on the social networking site, Twitter, twitted, “Overwhelming moment of Sundays .. today a little too boisterous - almost broke the cordon and moved in.” He also posted a picture of the maddening crowd.

Recently Amitabh Bachchan caused a ripple in advertising world after he commented against Pepsi, a soft drink brand he had been endorsing since 2002. According to Amitabh Bachchan one day a small school girl asked him why he endorses Pepsi when her teacher brands the drink as ‘Poison’. Mr. Bachchan was left speechless and he decided that he will not endorse any such brand which negatively affects the life of people.

Talking about the same at IIM, Ahmedabad, Bachchan said that he urges celebrities to exercise due diligence before endorsing any brand. He said, “I look into it... I meet the client and ask them about it... I don’t endorse tobacco or alcohol because I don’t have them... then why should I endorse them?"

Bachchan further said, “I tell this to my son Abhishek and to daughter-in-law Aishwarya also...if you have to endorse a product then you have to conduct your life in such a manner that it does not affect others' lives.”

While Pepsico did not comment of Bachchan, founder of Brand Harvest Consultancy, Ram Gudipati said, “While Bachchan's statement will not have any major repurcussions, a certain amount of impact is bound to happen. That too because somebody of Amitabh Bachchan's stature said something like this.”

“Mr Bachchan has a maturity of several men put together. He has never been known to be publicly wrong. His trust quotient is so high that I would give him the benefit of doubt. He is just being very open and frank about what he thinks and what he said was not done with any malefic intent”, said EO of Trust Research Advisory, N Chandramauli.
