‘Behen Hogi Teri’ trailer: Rajkumar Rao avoids being ‘bhai-zoned’ by Shruti

After doing serious roles in ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Trapped’, acclaimed actor Rajkumar Rao will be next seen in a comic role in upcoming film ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ opposite Shruti Haasan. Both the actors shared the trailer of the film on their respective Twitter handles late on Monday.

The two-minute-forty-five-seconds trailer is filled with funny moments and dialogues and has Rajkumar’s character avoids himself from being ‘bhai-zoned’ in the eyes of the neighbourhood girl he loves.

The trailer opens with a statement from the National Pledge ‘…All Indians are my brothers and sisters’ and Rajkumar’s voice questions this perception that all mohalla (neighbourhood) ladies are ‘maa-behen’ (like mother and sisters).

Rajkumar plays a middle-class boy named Gattu who is in love with a neighbourhood girl Binny Arora, played by Shruti. She is his “nicker ki zamane ki mohabbat’ (childhood love interest), and describes has as the hero as well as the villain of his love story, because she is a ‘firebrand’. He wants to send her friend-request, but is scared she might tie a rakhi on him. When one Rahul is introduced as a prospective groom for Binny, a frustrated Gattu tells his friend how all Rahuls are notorious for stealing the girl from her lover. He cites examples of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ where Shah Rukh Khan’s Rahul takes away the heroine from Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

In the background of the trailer, a recreated version of the song ‘Jaanu Meri Jaan’ from 1980 film ‘Shaan’ can be heard.

Behen Hogi Teri’ also stars ‘Bigg Boss 8’ winner Gautam Gulati, Gulshan Grover and Darshan Jariwara among others. Directed by Ajay K Pannalal, the movie is set to release on June 2.
