‘Befikre’ stops short of Rs 50 cr, mints 48.75 cr in 1st week
Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor starrer ‘Befikre’, which opened on a great note and showed growth at the box-office during the first weekend, witnessed a dip in its collection through the weekdays. At the end of the films first week run on Thursday (Dec. 15), its total collection was pegged a little short of Rs 50 crore mark at Rs 48.75 crore.
The Aditya Chopra-directed romantic drama minted Rs 10.36 crore on its opening day on December 9. The movie went on add to its account Rs 11.60 crore on Saturday and Rs 12.47 crore on Sunday. With its 1st weekend business of Rs 34.43 crore, ‘Befikre’ became the 10 highest opener and weekend grosser of 2016, toppling Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Dear Zindagi’.
From its fourth day onwards, ‘Befikre’s earning began to decline, raking in Rs 5.20 crore on Monday, Rs 3.59 crore on Tuesday, Rs 3.02 crore on Wednesday and Rs 2.51 crore on Thursday. By seven days of its run in the theatres, ‘Befikre’ business stood at Rs 48.75 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first week total of ‘Befikre’ writing, “#Befikre Fri 10.36 cr, Sat 11.60 cr, Sun 12.47 cr, Mon 5.20 cr, Tue 3.59 cr, Wed 3.02 cr, Thu 2.51 cr. Total: 48.75 cr. India biz.”
‘Befikre’ was one of highly anticipated films of the year. Audience have been waiting for Aditya Chopra’s directorial after almost eight year, ever since he announced the film at his father Yash Chopra’s death anniversary last year.
The movie received mixed reviews from critics.
