Bappi Lahiri to sing with Snoop Dog and Akon

Disco King of India Bappi Lahiri who spread what may be called the ‘disco-fever’ in Bollywood during the 1980, is all set to spread it internationally.

The singer-composer is reportedly collaborating with American rapper Snoop Dogg and rapper and songwriter Akon. Bappi Lahiri, affectionately called ‘Bappida’ is known for his super hits like ‘Jimmy Jimmy’, ‘Koi Yaahan Aaha Nache Nache’, ‘Dil Mein Ho Tum’ and ‘Ooh la la’ from Vidya Balan starrer ‘The Dirty Picture’.

Sharing the details about his international collaboration, Bappida said, “I have already worked with one of the top most rappers of America, MC Hammer on a song called 'Will to Live'.”

"I recently recorded one song with Snoop Dogg, along with Tulsi Kumar for my forthcoming film. As far as Akon is concerned, I will be doing a song with him in Hollywood in the month of May and I am very excited about it," he told a leading news agency.

"My song with Akon is again for my next film for which I am composing the music," he said without revealing the name of the film and added, “Akon will be singing with me. So, I am trying to get melody in rap.”

However, this is not the first time that the American rappers will be associating with Bollywood.  While Snoop Dog debuted with 2008 film ‘Singh is Kinng’ appearing and singing alongside Akshay Kumar in its title track, Akon had sung the track ‘Chammak Challo’ in Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Ra.one’.

On the growing trend of rap genre in the country, Bappida said he really likes Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh and believes that they both have the calibre to go international.

He was recently appointed brand ambassador to Barbeque Nation's Bollywood Disco Carnival, a tribute to the golden era of Bollywood disco.
