Bannet Dosanjh wins ‘Rising Star’ takes home Rs 20 lakh

Bannet Dosanjh has been declared winner of the singing reality show, ‘Rising Star’, aired on Color. Bannet Dosanjh walked away with prize money of Rs 20 lakh apart from the coveted trophy. He got 77 per cent votes, while Maithili, who was a bigger favourite than him, earned 75 per cent votes in the finale. The second runner-up was Ankita Kundu.

The show was judged by singers and musicians, Monali Thakur, Shankar Mahadevan, and Diljit Dosanjh. Bannet won the title by defeated finalists--Maithili Thakur and Ankita Kundu. He will also get a chance to debut as a playback singer in Mahesh Bhatt-led Vishesh Films' next venture.

"This is unbelievable. I feel I am living a dream right now. I will live up to the title and work harder now," Bannet told media after winning the title.

An ecstatic Diljit said, “I am very happy. This is amazing. I knew Bannet would win. He had a bad throat today and he was nervous about his performance. But he did a great job. He is from Punjab, my village so I request everyone to support him in the future.”

Anil Kapoor grace the grand finale of ‘Rising Star’. Anil Kapoor said, “I have been closely following the show because of its unique format. As actors and performers, we understand exactly what goes into giving a live performance. The talent on the show has been spectacular every weekend.Their dedication to their art and drive to achieve success grabbed my attention. I am happy to join them during the final leg of the show. The experts have guided them wonderfully and I really hope that India chooses the best talent tonight, supporting them with truckloads of votes!”
