The movie was made on an estimated budget of Rs. 45 crore, including 30 crores production cost and the rest for promotion and advertisement.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is the sequel to Varun and Alia’s 2014 hit ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. The film is set in small town where the patriarchal mindset is very much evident. The film highlights the issues of gender inequality and dowry system in an entertaining way.

Both Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are happy with all the love that the film is getting from the audience. Speaking at a recent awards show, Varun said, “It is not a time pass film. It has a message in it and the best part is that people have understood the message. Critics have liked the film and even the audience is liking it. People are going and watching it and it feels very nice. I am happy that the film is doing well. I am not that concerned about Rs 100 crore or Rs 200 crore club. I am here to entertain people.”
