‘Badlapur’ mints in Rs 24 crore in the opening weekend

Varun Dhawan’s ‘Badlapur’ rakes in moolah at the box-office. The film earned Rs 24 in the opening weekend. The film becomes the third biggest opener of the year. It collected Rs 7 crore on the opening Friday, Rs 8.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 8.25 crore on Sunday.

Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says, "The film's business grew on the second day and dropped only marginally on Sunday — by Rs 50 lakh — due to the India-South Africa cricket match. The other release, 'Qissa', has had a dismal weekend."

Rave reviews from critics and positive words of mouth boost up ‘Badlapur’ collection. Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, "For an A-rated film made on a modest budget, the film had a good opening, especially in multiplexes. The collections improved on Saturday and remained almost steady on Sunday though it had the India-South Africa match as competition. If the film sustains in the week days, the collections will go up."

Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas says, "Last weekend was better than average. But, for the next few weeks we can't bank on the films for doing good business."

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ is still at the top remains with Rs 36.07 crore, followed by Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’ with Rs 28.68 crore.
