‘Baazaar’ first poster: Saif Ali Khan means business

Saif Ali Khan’s last outing ‘Rangoon’ failed to make a mark at the box-office, but the handsome actor will be back in his moustachioed avatar in ‘Baazaar’. The first poster of the movie was released on Friday morning (May 5).

Director Gauravv K Chawla, a protege of filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, shared the poster on his Twitter timeline by writing, “It’s been a long journey, which has just begun! #Baazaar - This December is gonna be all about the Money!! #BaazaarPoster.”

Nikhil Advani also showed his support to Gauravv’s new venture and tweeted, “For the years you walked with me, propped me up. Time to return the favour. Time to soar @gauravvkchawla #Baazaar,” while sharing the poster.

The post has a suave looking Saif with a no-nonsense expression. He is dressed in a navy-blue suit and white shirt, with a hand inside the trouser pocket. A streak of silver hair can be seen on his head. The background of the poster has an aerial image of the Mumbai city and a silhouette of a person’s left profile. ‘Yahan paisa bhagwaan nahin, par bhagwaan se kam bhi nahi’ (Money is not God here, but it is not any less than God either), reads the tagline on the poster.

Besides Saif, the film also marks the debut of Rohan Mehra, son of late actor Vinod Mehra. The name of the leading lady has not been divulged yet.

‘Baazaar’ is said to be a thriller based on the Indian stock market, and Saif’s role is inspired from the stories surrounding the murky world of stock trading. His character has shades of grey. Reports suggest that ‘Bazaar’ is inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer 2013 film ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.

“‘Baazaar’ is a film meant for each and every one who dreams of making it in the big bad world of Mumbai, and does so on their own terms,” director Gauravv said in a press statement.

Produced by Kyta Productions and Emmay Entertainment, the film’s principal photography begins this month. “We are excited to present this project. It is youthful, inspiring and very entertaining. It is an integral part of a very diverse slate of films that Kyta hopes to bring to the audiences,” Kyta Productions’ Vice-Chairman Dheeraj Wadhawan and Managing Director Ajay Kapoor said in the statement.

“This film is very dear to me personally. It is in the very capable hands of Gauravv who has not only won Saif’s confidence but one who I fully trust to launch Rohan in his directorial debut,” Nikkhil Advani, co-founder of Emmay Entertainment, added.
