‘Baahubali’ goes big on promotions with world’s largest poster

Soon-to-be-released epic film ‘Baahubali’ is going big on its promotions, quite literally. The S. S. Rajamouli film recently released what the makers claim to be the world’s largest movie poster.

The film’s Twitter handle posted a picture of the enormous poster which was unveiled in Kochi on June 27. Guinness officials will need to inspect the poster to declare it a world record.

“Team #Baahubali is proud to share this image which shows the World Record poster that was unveiled in Kochi yesterday,” the tweet read.

The mega-budget film made at an estimated cost of Rs 250-300 crore is on an intensive publicity spree ahead of its release, given the fact that the first week is critical to any film's prospects at the box office.

The audio release function of ‘Baahubali’ which was actually scheduled to take place at Hyderabad’s HITEX grounds on May 31 was stalled as police feared a stampede. The event was later held at the temple town of Tirupati on June 13.

‘Baahubali’ is a story of two estranged brothers, Baahubali and Bhallavadeva, played by Telugu superstars Prabhas Raju and Rana Daggubati. The film also stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Sudeep.

The film has been made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil and is being dubbed into Malayalam, Hindi, English and other foreign languages.  The Hindi version will be released by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in collaboration with Anil Thadani’s AA Films.

The trailer of the film is already a hit on Youtube. ‘Baahubali’ will be released in two parts. The first part, ‘Baahubali - The Beginning’ will hit the theatres on July 10.
