‘Baahubali’ expected to strike Rs 200 crore mark before 2nd weekend

After making a historical opening and amassing over Rs 135 crore worldwide by day two of its release, ‘Baahubali’ is fast marching toward the Rs 200 crore mark on its second week with excellent contribution from the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film.

The total domestic and international collection of the epic drama by S S Rajamouli in all versions is said to be around Rs 190 crore. The film is expected to become the fastest Indian film ever to strike the Rs 200 crore mark.

“‘Baahubali - the Beginning’ has grossed Rs135 crore at the worldwide box office in two days and its net collection stands at Rs 112 crore in the global market. With this, the movie has smashed old records of not only Telugu films, but also Bollywood films like ‘PK’, ‘Krish’ and ‘Chennai Express’,” according to a report on the website of International Business Times.

By the fourth day, the Telugu movie has collected a total of approximately Rs 42.50 crore, while the Tamil version did a business of close to Rs 20 crore.

Tagged as a visual masterpiece, ‘Baahubali’ is doing superb business across the globe, especially in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and the Gulf countries.

In the US itself, the movie has earned over 4.24 million dollars, which is about Rs 27 crore. It has set the record of highest earning south Indian film by the first weekend. The Tamil version earnings amounted to Rs 1.58 crore.

Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Nasser and Ramya Krishnan in the lead roles, the film is touted to be the most expensive film ever made in India at Rs 265 crore.

The movie is made in two parts and from the enormous response the first part is receiving, it is expected to have a long run at the box office.
