‘Baahubali 2’ racing towards Rs 1500 cr at global box-office

Director S S Rajamouli’s offering ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ has already set the record of being the highest grossing Indian movie. The epic war drama is into its third week and is still collecting double digit figures in crores and is inching towards 1500 crore at the worldwide box-office.

The film earned Rs 25 crore on its third Tuesday, i.e., day 19 of its release, taking the worldwide gross to Rs 1,450 crore.

Ramesh Bala?, an observer of the south Indian film industry, tweeted, “#Baahubali2 19 Days WW Box office: India: Nett - Rs 925 Crs Gross - Rs 1,189 Crs; Overseas: Gross - Rs 261 Crs; Total: Rs 1,450 Crs."

Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles, the multilingual film released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi and has transcended all language barrier, becoming a brand in Indian cinema.

The Hindi version, distributed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, alone is likely to make 500 crore soon. By its third weekend, the Hindi dubbed version has already made Rs 432.80 crore.

Today’s collection, i.e., day 20, is also estimated to be above 20 crore globally, with a decent amount of advance bookings.

Baahubali 2’ became the first Indian film to collect Rs 100 crore in the US, and according to trade reports, the film is all set to enter the Rs 150-crore club this week.   

The movie got a grand release and was screened in about 9000 screens worldwide. It has been made on a budget of Rs 250 crore.
