‘Baaghi’ becomes 3rd highest opener with Rs 11.87 cr on day 1

Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film ‘Baaghi’ saw a good start at the theatres and collected Rs 11.87 crore on the opening day. The romantic action drama released in a total of 2750 screens across India and 344 screens abroad.

With the opening figure, ‘Baaghi’ has become the third highest opener of 2016 after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ at Rs 19. 20 crore and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ at Rs 12.35 crore.

Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the opening figures on his Twitter handle.

“#Baaghi is 3rd HIGHEST OPENER of 2016 *so far*: 1. #Fan ? 19.20 cr 2. #Airlift ? 12.35 cr 3. #Baaghi ? 11.87 cr Hindi films. India biz,” he wrote.

Taran also praised the movie for making a ‘double digit Friday’, writing, “#Baaghi has a HEROIC start. TERRIFIC in mass circuits. Plexes picked up in evening. Fri ? 11.87 cr. India biz. Double digit Fri = SUPERBBB!”

The film also performed well overseas and minted Rs 1.54 crore at the Gulf box office across 66 screens. The figure was three times than what Tiger’s debut ‘Heropanti’ had earned.

Tiger collaborated with his ‘Heropanti’ director and Producer – Sabbir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala respectively, for his second film ‘Baaghi’. The movie also stars Telugu actor Sudheer Babu in his Bollywood debut in a negative role. It tells the story of two people who turn rebels for the sake of love.
