Athiya’s debut film release date same as that of Suniel’s first film

In a striking occurrence, Athiya Shetty’s debut film ‘Hero’ is set to hit screens on September 11 which coincides with the date on which her father Suniel Shetty’s debut movie ‘Balwaan’ released way back in 1992.

Suniel, who is waiting with bated breath for the release of his daughter’s debut movie told The Times of India, "I became a hero, thanks to Balwaan. And now, Athiya's ‘Hero’ is set to release on the same day. This is crazy. I realised this just a couple of days ago. Athiya was blown away when she heard it. Even Nikhil (Advani) was surprised and said, 'This is news!'"

The ‘Hera Pheri’ actor said Athiya and her co-star Sooraj Pancholi have done a great job as actors and said he felt proud as a father. He also revealed the similar date was not pre-planned.

"Hero's release was pushed from July to September for various reasons, but this wasn't one of them at all. And finally it lands up on this day,” the national daily quoted the actor.

Suniel who is gearing up for the third instalment of comedy franchise ‘Hera Pheri’, said he is more nervous for Athiya’s first release. “I had nothing to lose, had no expectations when I entered the film industry. However, acting is what Athiya wants to do. It is her passion and she has been educated in the field. She is holding her nerves better than me," he said.

Athiya plays the role of Radha, daughter of a police officer who falls in love with Sooraj, a Mumbai gangster in the film. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film also stars Sooraj’s father Aditya Pancholi. Salman Khan who has produced the film also makes a special appearance.
