Asha Bhosle feels nervous about her debut film

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is venturing into acting with ‘Mai’ and she admits that she was bit nervous while shooting for the debut film. She starts shooting for ‘Mai’ with veteran actor Anupam Kher and the film is about a woman who has been abandoned by her only son.

"I was nervous while shooting with Anupam Kher but then he made me feel comfortable. Everyone was co-operating with me," she told reporters Tuesday at a promotional event of the film.

Facing the camera for the first time made Ashaji little nervous but the melody queen concludes that both singing and acting are challenging in their own ways.

"I think singing is difficult, as one has to be expressive through their voice and at the same time be in tune. But at the same time acting is also difficult as actors have to do physical tasks and emote properly," she said.

Mahesh Kodiyal’s directed movie ‘Mai’ speaks about woman dilemma who is abandoned by her own children.

The 79-year-old said that her sister Lata Mangeshkar has not yet seen the film but wishes her all the best for the film. Asha said about sister Lata, she is "happy that I have acted in the film and wishes me luck".

One of the successful actresses of 80’s and early 90’s Padmini Kolhapure who is also playing a pivotal role in ‘Mai’ is full of praise for Asha Bhosle.

"I think Ashaji is a surprise package in the film. Looking at her energy and enthusiasm at this age, we all got surprised. We were moved and became more energetic. Her love and dedication for cinema is commendable," Padmini told reporters at a promotional event of the film.

Talking about the rapport she shared with the singer, Padmini said: "She is like a mother to me. I am so happy that I got to act with her... It felt great to work with her."

"She is a great singer and actress... I am sure everyone will like her. I feel if I would not have worked in this film, then I would have lost out an important opportunity," said Padmini, who was part of successful movies like ‘Woh 7 Din’, ‘Prem Rog’ and ‘Pyar Jhukta Nahin’.

If ‘Mai’ marks the debut film of Asha Bhosle then it also marks the directional debut of Mahesh Kodiyal.

‘Mai’ will hit the theatre on February 1.
