Arjun Kapoor to play Kapil Dev in his next

The relationship of Bollywood and the cricket world is a special one, with the B-town actresses regularly dating cricketers. Now a yet new dimension will be added to this bond with an upcoming movie. A part of the cast and the story line have been revealed and both sound quite interesting. The sports based biopics ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ and ‘Mary Kom’ did very well. Now a filmmaker is going to experiment with cricket this time. The biopic will be on none other than the legendary Kapil Dev. The actor who has been approached for this character is the Bollywood hunk Arjun Kapoor. The movie will feature Kapil Dev’s journey and it is based on the 1983 World Cup.

Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), is the one planning this project. It has been reported that he has already shown the script to Arjun Kapoor. But movie enthusiasts would still have to wait for any good news as the Kapoor lad hasn’t given a nod to the project yet.

Audience would get to enjoy yet another movie that portrays the life of a cricketer, very soon. Sushant Singh Rajput would be seen as Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the upcoming ‘M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’. This one is a Neeraj Pandey film and would hit the screens this year.  Yet another sports drama coming up is Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, that tells the story of wrestler Mahavir Phogat.

A source gave some information about Arjun’s upcoming, “Arjun has been approached and he is contemplating. Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder and MD of CCL, who is planning the project, has already met the actor with the script. He has also approached actors for essaying the other characters but nothing has been finalised as of now. We will make an official announcement once every thing is in place. It’s a big responsibility to portray the character of Kapil Dev and Arjun wants to take his time to decide. He hasn’t given his final answer but the chances of him essaying the role of the cricketer are high.”

Although Arjun hasn’t given any decision yet, there is no reason why he shouldn’t climb onboard for this project. His latest release ‘Tevar’, starring Sonakshi Sinha, was a flop at the box office. He donned the role of a Kabaddi player called Pintoo. After his Kabaddi was a flop, it would be interesting to see whether Arjun does well in the shoes of a cricketer.
