Ankita Lokhande to debut in Bollywood with Kangana’s ‘Manikarnika’

Actress Ankita Lokhande, who became a household name for portraying the role of Archana in the hit series ‘Pavitra Rishta’, is set to make her Bollywood debut. She has joined the cast of Kangana Ranaut starrer film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’.

There has been a lot of hearsay regarding the Bollywood debut of Sushant Singh Rajput’s former girlfriend for a long time now, and finally it is happening.

Ankita will be seen playing the character of Jhalkaribai who was considered as the right hand of Rani Laxmibai and was a part of her army. She was a prominent advisor to the queen, and the brave woman had once disguised herself as Rani Laxmibai to trick the British army during a battle.

Confirming her role in the upcoming movie, Ankita told Mumbai Mirror, “I’d never heard of her before, not many have, but Jhalkaribai was one of the greatest heroes of our proud history. I’m honoured that I’ll be telling her story to the world, fighting alongside Kangana’s Rani Laxmibai.”

Ankita has been training in sword-fighting and taking horse-riding lessons for over a month now. “I am indebted to Kamal sir (producer Kamal Jain) for this challenging role in a big budget film scripted by ‘Baahubali’ scriptwriter K V Vijayendra Prasad, alongside a National Award-winning actress like Kangana who exudes power and is an inspiration to all women. I am looking forward to learning from her once we start shooting in August.”

‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’ will be directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. The historical film is scheduled to release on April 27, 2018.
