Anil Kapoor to co-produce a teen comedy

Richard Branson’s media company Virgin Produced has entered into a partnership with Anil Kapoor and his daughter Rhea for its first Bollywood project.

The project which is still untitled is a teen comedy to be directed by debutant Karan Boolani and will be co-produced by Anil’s banner ‘Anil Kapoor Film Company’. The film is said to be about teenagers who meet during their freshman year at an American University and become friends for life.

Speaking about the film Rhea said, “We have had this project with us for a bit. Our film reflects the voice of the generation. It’s a risk we have taken, so we don’t know if this will work. You do it because you are passionate about films.

“We are making this film for a global audience so it isn’t specifically for Bollywood or Hollywood markets. We aren’t going to filter the content and that will be a challenge,” she added.

Oscar-winning music maestro A. R. Rahman has been roped in for the music of the teen drama. “We are so excited to have Rahman score music for us. I’ve been working with him on the album for a bit. Dad and Rahman sir will help nurture talent for us for the film,” Rhea said.

She further said that the film will introduce all genuine and fresh talent including a mix of both international and Indian actors.

However, it is not revealed whether Anil will also act in the film. The actor’s last movie ‘Dil Dhadak Ne Do’ where he played father to Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, has garnered him rave reviews from everyone alike.

Speaking about the teen comedy, the actor said that with this film, they look forward to taking Virgin Produced’s unique and successful business model and also expand the same in Bollywood.
