Amrita's aura now floors Singapore

Amrita AroraAlmost famous Amrita Arora preens in the glare of limelight in a Bollywood-obsessed land far away from home.

“It feels great to be in Singapore, especially seeing the popularity of Hindi films and actors here,” says Amrita, in the Lion City to promote...
...her forthcoming film, Mahesh Manjrekar’s Rakht, co-starring Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu.

So what’s Rakht all about? “Lots of action, great songs and an interesting script,” is all that she will give out. And does she get a notable footage in the multi-starrer? “I play the town tease,” she grins.

“She has fun with all the hot males in town. So I had a ball doing the role!” Is that cute, sexy image becoming a burden for her, then? “After Rakht, people won’t dismiss me just as a glam-doll. The role has shades of grey,” she claims.

Her next release is Girlfriend, a ‘hot’ film on lesbianism. “Girlfriend is hot, yes. But it does tackle the shade of lesbianism practically. Why can’t such themes be explored within the mainstream format?” she asks.

So, what keeps her occupied beyond work? “There are live shows and scripts to be read. Actually, it’s been work and only work lately.” Her fans aren’t complaining for sure.
