Amitabh rubbishes Dilip Kumar's death hoax, says he is fine

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was rumoured to have passed away on Monday. The condolence messages took Twitter by storm. However, it has now been revealed that the reports were false. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan himself took to Twitter to clarify the state of the actor’s health. Big B twitted, “T 1685 - Some baseless rumours being spread about Yusuf Saheb - Dilip Kumar, being ill .. Saira ji just informed me he is perfectly fine!”

Dilip Kumar had recently attended the wedding of Arpita Khan, the sister of Salman Khan at the Faluknama palace in Hyderabad along with his wife and the actor was perfectly healthy. However, on Monday, rumours of death of the veteran actor took Twitter by storm. It was said that the actor was suffering from a prolonged illness and he has finally passed away at the Lilawati hospital in Mumbai. Condolence messages flooded Twitter. Finally, Amitabh Bachchan himself had to post a tweet saying that the actor is fine.

Dilip Kumar had fallen victim to online death hoax even before. During September 2011, there was a rumour about the death of the veteran actor. Finally, his wife Saira Banu had to issue a public statement saying that the actor was in good health. This time too several people were taken in by the news of the death of the actor. Later, Anurag Kashyap took to Twitter to apologize for his message of condolence. He posted, “Apologies for the Dilip Saab tweet… I panicked because of three back to back messages, he is fine and the news is not true.”

Celebrity death hoax is nothing new to online users. Personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Asha Parekh, Lata Mangeshkar and Madhuri Dixit Nene have previously fallen prey to such rumours. The most recent rumours talked about the death of rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh in a car accident. However, like all these rumours, those surrounding the death of Dilip Kumar also turned out to be false as confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan himself.

Dilip Kumar is one of the leading stars of Bollywood and has been well known for his acting of tragic roles. Some of his most famous films include ‘Mughal e Azam’, ‘Ram aur Shyam’, ‘Madhumati’, ‘Naya daur’ and ‘Ganga Jamuna’. Recently, his autobiography titled ‘The substance and the shadow’ was launched amidst much fanfare by celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.
