Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali bash: Shahrukh Khan saves Aishwarya’s ex-manager from fire


Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ex-manager Archana Sadanand narrowly escapes a major accident at Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali bash. Her lehenga caught fire when her lehenga rubbed through a diya. Shahrukh Khan immediately came to her rescue and put off her fire with his jacket. Sadanand, was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s manager for over a decade sustained minor burns in different places and she is currently recovering at Nanavati hospital.

Hospital sources told mid-day that Sadanand, sustained 15 per cents burns and she was rushed to the hospital in the wee hours of Monday and has been kept in isolation in the ICU to prevent infections. The superstar also suffered minor burns.

Bachchans Diwali bash was attended by who’s who of Bollywood. The incident took place late night when most of the guests left. "It was just after 3 am and a few guests were still around," an insider told mid-day.

"Archana was with her daughter in the courtyard when her lehenga caught fire. Those around were stunned and didn't know what to do. Shah Rukh had the presence of mind, rushed to Archana, and put out the fire. He, too, sustained minor burns while dousing the flames with a jacket. His only thought was to put out the fire."

Sadanand is being treated by Dr Devyani B Venkat, a plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon. She has recently joined Nanavati after returning from the US. She is the daughter of renowned gastroenterologist Jayant Barve, who treats Bachchan Sr.

Archana Sadanand shares a great bond with the Bachchan family.

Hospital sources, however, informed Sadanand was recovering well and was even made to walk for a few minutes inside the isolated ICU on Tuesday. Visitors are not allowed to meet her as of now.
