Amitabh Bachchan sings in a local train for charity

Commuters of a Mumbai local train got a pleasant surprise when Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bahchan travelled with them on Sunday, November 15.

Big B was there for Saurabh Nimbkar who makes the journey of the daily passengers of the city’s local trains by strumming his guitar, in order to raise money for cancer patients.

Saurab who had featured on the television show ‘Aaj Ki Raat Zindagi’ hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, was surprised and thrilled to see the legendary actor who had come to support his charitable work.

Much to the delight of the travellers, Amitabh Bachchan clapped along with Saurabh who strummed his guitar. The veteran actor also treated them to one of his popular track ‘Rang Barse’. Immediately, word started to spread an #BigBAurHeroKaSafar began trending on Twitter.

The 73-year-old actor himself took to the micro-blogging site and shared pictures from his train journey.

“Local from VT to Bhandup to support Saurabh, who sings in locals for charity to cancer .. sang with him,” Big B posted along with a couple of pictures of him in the train.

He also tweeted, “I do not think of super awesomeness .. feel they that give so much to society, need to be shown  respect and support.”

“In the company of our 'heroes'on #AKRHZ, one feels so small and insufficient .. I do .. so spent time with them off the show,” read another tweet.

Amitabh Bachchan also shared his experience of his train singing session on his blog and clarified that he did not undertake this exercise as part of any publicity stunt.

“The idea is not to create a splash among the media, or to create credible content for them, or for the subsequent promotion of the show #AKRHZ .. the idea is to let him know that he is not alone .. that he is appreciated .. that our support runs even after he departs from the Show .. to hope that many others would feel the same way as we did when we heard his story .. and perhaps that it may sufficiently light a small flame of hope for many other deeds that need to be done ..,” he wrote.

Big B further revealed that even Saurabh was not aware of it. “It was executed quietly without Saurabh’s knowledge .. as a surprise for him and for the many that travel daily with him,” the actor wrote.
