Amitabh Bachchan confirms returning as ‘KBC 9’ host, shares pictures

Speculations surrounding the host for the upcoming season of popular game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ has been put to rest with Amitabh Bachchan confirming that he will soon return to the small screen with the ninth season of the show.

Big B has already done a look test besides shooting for a promo inviting participants. The megastar shared a few pictures on his Twitter handle on Friday evening and wrote, “Ok ... so the pictures of KBC shoot got clearance, so there (sic).”

Amitabh Bachchan also posted about ‘KBC 9’ on his official blog on Tumbler announcing that the registration questions for the contest will be aired by August or September.

"KBC has gracefully agreed to reappear and in doing so has coerced me into recording the Registration Questions for the contest to be on air by August-September this year," the 74-year-old actor posted on his blog.

‘KBC 9’ is returning after a gap of three years. Amitabh Bachchan has been associated with the game show as its host since it was launched in 2000, except for its third season that was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. It is said that the upcoming season will be bigger and better than its previous seasons. The show will undergo certain changes and the prize money will also be higher than the last season's Rs seven crore.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Ranbir Kapoor will be replacing the veteran actor as the show’s host, but the Kapoor scion rubbished it. Then last month, reports surfaced that Big B’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her ‘Devdas’ co-star Madhuri Dixit were approached to take over as quiz master for the show.

‘KBC’, based on the UK game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, brought a revolution of sorts in the Indian television industry when its first started airing on Star Plus. The top-rated show gives opportunity for the common man to be not just seated with the legendary actor, but also take home monetary prizes, to the tune of crores, if one is lucky.

The show first aired on Star Plus and then shifted to Sony TV since the fourth season.
