Alok Nath’s wife moves court, files defamation case against Vinta Nanda

Alok Nath’s wife Ashu Nath has filed application in Mumbai court in which she asked police to investigative the rape allegation against her actor husband Alok Nath by actor-writer Vinta Nanda. She has also filed defamation case against her.

"We have requested the court to order police to investigate the allegations. The allegations are meant to tarnish our client's image. We do not want money. We are seeking only a monetary compensation of one rupee," Alok Nath's lawyer Ashok Saraogi told NDTV.

His lawyer also informed that on Monday they will file a defamation case against Vinta Nanda and also demand for removal of Ms Nanda's Facebook post in which she levelled Alok Nath as rapist.

Vinta Nanda of ‘Tara’ fame alleged that Alok Nath sexually violated her almost two decades ago.

"I have waited for this moment to come for 19 years," Nanda wrote in a long, heart-wrenching Facebook post, referring to the "predator in question" as "the actor par excellence who is known as the most 'sanskaari' (cultured) person in the film and television industry".

The adjectives like "sanskaari", "lead actor" and a "television star of that decade" indicates that the person in question is none other than Alok Nath.

Later, confirming the same, Nanda said: "It is Alok Nath. I thought saying 'sanskaari' would do the needful."

Over the decades, audience adorned Alok Nath as fatherly figure on-screen.

The #MeToo wave across the nation gave Nanda the courage to pen her panic.

"He was an alcoholic, shameless and obnoxious but he was also the television star of that decade, so not only was he forgiven for all his bad behaviour, many of the guys would also egg him on to be his worst," Nanda wrote, adding that he even harassed the show's lead actress who was not interested in him.

Sharing the worst incident of her life, Vinta Nanda recalled that she left Alok's house party at 2 a.m. She says her drinks were mixed.

"I started to walk home on the empty streets... Midway I was accosted by this man who was driving his own car and he asked me to sit in it and said he would drop me home. I trusted him and sat in his car.

"I have faint memory after that. I can remember more liquor being poured into my mouth and I remember being violated endlessly. When I woke up the next afternoon, I was in pain. I hadn't just been raped, I was taken to my own house and had been brutalised.

"I couldn't get up for my bed. I told some of my friends but everybody advised me to forget about it and move on."

Apart from Nanda, two more women alleged that they were sexually harassed by Alok Nath.

A crew member narrated her horrific experience. In her post, she wrote how Alok Nath stripped in front of her.

"We were shooting for a night scene and I had taken a change of costumes to him. Once I handed him the clothes, he started stripping in front of me. I was taken aback, and tried to make my way out of the room as soon as possible. When I tried to run out, he grabbed my hand and manhandled me. I remember yanking my hand out of his grip and rushing out of the room," the woman recounted.
