Alia, Sidharth call it quits? Alia says she’s single

Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt may have never admitted to being in a relationship, but their secret New Year getaway in the US to hugging each other at Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar launch and gushing about each other, speak aloud that something is cooking between the two.

However, the latest buzz is that their relationship has hit a rough patch and the couple has called it quits once and for all. Rumours of a tiff between the alleged lovebirds have been doing the rounds for a long time.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Alia and Sidharth split a month ago and are not on talking terms. Several reasons were hinted behind their break-up; from the couple’s fight over the ‘Highway’ actress’ ex-boyfriend to their tiffs over Shraddha Kapoor.

In fact, in an interview with a leading daily, Alia confessed that she is single and Sidharth is just a friend. "I am single and Sid is a supportive and extremely important friend in my life and will always be that. As a friend, rather than asking him not to do films with any actress, I keep telling Sid to work with every person because I think he has all the charm, talent and sexiness in the world and the potential to become the biggest superstar of this country! Never in my life, will we ever tell each other what we should or should not do," she told DNA.

Sidharth flying off to Miami for the shooting of his upcoming action flick earlier than scheduled, also raised eyebrows. Sources from the film’s set said that lately, the actor has not been his usual self, and he focuses only on work and his workouts. Even when the unit hangs out after shoot, Sid always finds a way to give it a miss under some pretext or the other.

However, people close to the couple maintain that though they have had a lovers' tiff, the two are not calling it quits yet. His overseas shoot was well-timed as they had reached a phase where they needed some space from each other.

Meanwhile, Alia’s much awaited film ‘Udta Punjab’ which has been cleared for release with an ‘A’ certificate after a bitter court battle against the censor board, is slated to hit screens tomorrow, June 17.

The ‘Ek Villain’ actor is also busy shooting for the action flick opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in Miami.
