Alia-Varun's ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ hits screens amidst positive buzz


Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer much-awaited romantic comedy ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ finally hit screens today. The film is the sequel to the lead pair’s 2014 hit ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and is their third film together after their debut ‘Student of the Year’ and the prequel.

Both Alia and Varun share a wonderful camaraderie off the screen and are equally amazing in their on-screen chemistry. The film has Varun playing Badrinath Bansal, who is serious about settling down in life with a wife, but he wants only Alia’s Vaidehi Trivedi as his bride and no one else. Vaidehi, on the other hand is a spunky girl who isn’t impressed by Badri’s immature ways. Shashank Khaitan comes back to direct the sequel which has been produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

The trailer of the film which released last month was very much appreciated, and the music too has become very popular, especially the songs ‘Tamma Tamma Again’ and the title track. Alia and Varun too have created a huge buzz around the film with their promotional tours in various cities across the country and on various television shows. So much, that producer Karan Johar even joked that the duo think themselves to be a part of the movie’s marketing team.  

‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is set in a small town of Uttar Pradesh and is a fresh take on romance, fun and entertainment, and also stars Gauhar Khan, Shweta Basu Prasad and Aakanksha Singh among others.

It is Bollywood’s Holi offering for the year, and trade pundits have predicted a blockbuster opening for the film, and initial box-office reports tally with their predictions.
