Salman out, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan to star in Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’

Well, after a lot of permutation and combination finally Karan Johar has got his casting finalized for his magnum opus ‘Shuddhi’. Karan’s favourite students, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan have been roped in for his much anticipated film, ‘Shuddhi’.

A happy Karan Johar tweeted:

And finally..SHUDDHI starring VARUN DHAWAN and ALIA BHATT...directed by KARAN MALHOTRA..@Varun_dvn @aliaa08 @karanmalhotra21 @DharmaMovies

Ever since ‘Shuddhi’ was announced the film casting has seen many ups and downs. First Hrithik and Kareena Kapoor were finalized but when Hrithik walked out of the film and opted for ‘Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’, Kareena too backed out of the project.

Then the filmmaker moved his second choice to Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh but before finalizing anything, the couple was signed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Bajirao Mastani’. In this case too Karan failed. This leads to the birth of cold war between Karan and Sanjay which was finally ended in ‘Piku’ success bash.

Then Karan moved to Salman Khan. ‘Shuddhi’ is Karan’s dream project and in no case he wants the movie to be shelved.  Karan even took to social media to announce the new development but before the female lead could be finalized, Salman backed out of the project due to ongoing court cases.

It is also believed that AIB Roast controversy, which made fun of Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan didn’t go down well with Salman Khan and this, is touted to be one of the reasons for the actor to back out of the project.

When Karan Johar tweeted about the new casting of ‘Shuddhi’ Salman Khan took to the twitter and congratulated Varun Dhawan for bagging the coveted role.

Salman Khan#Kamaal karte ho Varun Dhawan...made ur dad n me so proud of u... happy Shhuddhi

‘Shuddhi’ will be Varun and Alia’s third film together after ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. Both movies sparked magic at the box-office and Alia and Varun’s chemistry was hugely liked.

With the formal announcement, #Shuddhi started trending on social media. Varun and Alia’s fans took Twitter by storm. Some expressed happiness about casting the successful pair while some expressed concern about casting so young pair to play Lord Shiva and Sati.
