Alia Bhatt, not Sara Ali Khan to romance Ranveer in Zoya Akhtar’s next
Alia Bhatt, and not Sara Ali Khan will be seen romancing Ranveer Singh in Director Zoya Akhtar’s next titled ‘Gully Boy’. Reports had suggested that Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara will make her debut opposite Ranveer with the film. But as per a report in a popular glossy, Alia has been locked in for the film.
According to Filmfare, Alia Bhatt has been signed on to star opposite Ranveer in the film, which is based on two street rappers from the chawls of Mumbai, who make it big in music circuit. An official announcement is, however, awaited from the makers.
Ranveer has worked with Zoya in her 2015 directorial ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, and the duo share a good rapport, but he is being paired with the ‘Udta Punjab’ actress for the first time. Ranveer and Alia did appear together for a series of commercials for a travel website, and their interesting chemistry was appreciated by viewers.
‘Gully Boy’ is said to be inspired by Internet sensations like Divine and Naezy from Mumbai, who enjoy quite a fan following. The film also draws extensively from the works of other politically incorrect rappers, including Muck Fodi (Ashwini Mishra) whose music focuses on politician-bashing and Kolkata-based Vik Sen aka Feyago, among others.
Meanwhile, Alia will be soon seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Gauri Shinde’s ‘Dear Zindagi’, which is releasing on Noveber 25. She is also working for Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ opposite Varun Dhawan. Ranveer has also began shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period film ‘Padmavati’ starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari.
As for Sara, she has been in news for many other movies as well - from being approached for Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year 2’ with Tiger Shroff to working with Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother Ishaan Khattar in the remake of ‘Fault in Our Stars’. We will have to wait for some time more to find out with whom and which movie this pretty star kid makes her big debut.
