Alia Bhatt ensures a melodious end for Pro Kabaddi League 2

Actress Alia Bhatt enthralled the audience with her melodious crooning of the National Anthem to commence the final of Pro Kabaddi League 2, the sports event which was kick-started on July 18 with megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s rendition of the National Anthem.

Alia was joined by actors Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, cricketer MS Dhoni and Star India CEO Shankar on August 23. The final match was held between U Mumba and Bangaluru Bulls in which the Mumbai team was declared winner of Pro Kabadddi League season two.

A few hours before the final match was about to start Alia took to Twitter to share her excitement: “#ProKabaddi finals today !!! So excited and honoured to be singing the national anthem for the end of the league :D”

Afterwards, she also wrote on Instagram that she felt very very “Shaandaar” to have have sung the National Anthem. The ‘Highway’ actress donned a Manish Malhotra ensemble for the event. She shared a picture of her on the photo-sharing site and wrote, “Thank you Manish for my lovely outfit!! @manishmalhotra05 .. At the #ProKabaddi finals today.. Singing the national anthem!!! Felt very very #shaandaar ;) @stylebyami @ayeshadevitre @grish1234.”

Alia had revealed her singing prowess earlier with an unplugged version of the song ‘Samjhawan’ from ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’. She had also sung the track ‘Sooha Saha’ for her film ‘Highway’.

The official website of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi wrote about the actress’ performance, "The atmosphere in the stadium was already electric. Alia's performance added to that atmosphere and mesmerized the audience with her melodious and lyrical voice. Her rendition of our National Anthem only strengthened the belief of returning to our Indian roots which has been displayed throughout the tournament through the Indian sport of kabaddi."

Meanwhile, Alia is gearing up for the release of her upcoming romantic comedy ‘Shaandaar’ opposite Shahid Kapoor. Her upcoming movies also include ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Kapoor & Sons’ which will release next year.
