Akshay shoots for ‘Gold’ in London, shares his look

One of Bollywood’s busiest actors, Akshay Kumar has already begun shooting for his new project titled ‘Gold’ in London over the weekend. The Khiladi Kumar shared the news on Twitter while also giving out his look in the film.

"Set out on a brand new journey, aiming for nothing less than Gold! Day 1... need your love (sic),” Akshay tweeted on Saturday, July 1. He also posted a black-and-white image of him which appears to be his character’s look in the film. The image has the actor looking suave donning a trimmed moustache and wearing a checked waist coat. He is also seen carrying a bag on his shoulder.  

To be directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritish Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment, ‘Gold’ tells the story of India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at the XIV Olympiad in London.

Akshay will portray the character of former Indian hockey player Balbir Singh, while the film will mark the Bollywood debut of gorgeous television actress Mouni Roy of ‘Naagin’ fame. She has previously featured in an item song in ‘Tum Bin II’.

‘Gold’ is set for a release during Independence Day 2018.

Meanwhile, Akshay will be next seen in 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha' opposite Bhumi Pednekar. The comedy-satire inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cleanliness campaign ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and based on true incident, stress the need for a toilet in every house. The film is set to hit screens on August 11, ahead of Independence Day.

Akshay is also starring in another socially relevant film titled ‘Pad Man’, alongside Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.
