Akshay Kumar’s ‘Brothers’ marching towards 100 cr club


Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra starrer family action drama ‘Brothers’ has garnered an impressive amount of Rs 82.47 crore at the box office and is now racing towards the coveted Rs 100 crore mark.

‘Brothers’ which earned Rs 15.20 crore on its opening day has had a successful two weeks run at the theatres so far.  It is the second film this year to have brought in such a huge opening amount after Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s second week business on Twitter. “#Brothers [Week 2] Fri 1.40 cr, Sat 2 cr, Sun 2.70 cr, Mon 1.20 cr, Tue 90 lacs, Wed 86 lacs, Thu 81 lacs. Total: ? 82.47 cr. India biz,” he posted on the micro-blogging site.

The action-packed film which also stars Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez, became the second highest opening weekend grosser of the year by collecting Rs 52.08 crore in three days. By the first week the movie managed a domestic business of total Rs 72.60 crore that included Rs 52.08 crore of weekend and 20.52 crore of weekdays.

Now, the film’s total collection covering two weeks stands at 82.47 crore and needs a little more than 17 crore to enter the Rs 100 crore club.

Nonetheless, ‘Brothers’ is Akshay’s third hit in a row and the actor is soon arriving with another rib-tickler ‘Singh Is Bliing’.
