Akshay Kumar gears up for ‘Dare 2 Dance’

As if getting divas to perform stunts in ‘Khatron ke Khiladi’ wasn’t enough for Bollywood’s daredevil Akshay Kumar, he is now all set to find trained and famed dancers who will give many stunt-based performances to survive on the dance floor.

‘Dare 2 Dance’, as the show is called, has been shot in the picturesque landscape of Cape Town in South Africa. In the promos, Akshay sounds challenging when he says, ‘Jiski life mei dare nahi, uski life ki khair nahi.’

The show will be aired on Life OK starting Saturday, 6th September 2014 and is spread across 16 episodes. It is a blend of dance and adventurous dares. The contestants will be dared to groove underwater, mid-air, on ice and even in the midst of fire, among other rough and tough situations.

The launch event of the show was held on Wednesday, 3rd September 2014. The catch to the entertainment show was the superstar’s catchy rap of the show’s title song, which Akki had also penned down himself.

The actor, all suited booted, rapped like a true professional while the song played in the background. His performance was loved by all, but Akshay himself, thinks differently.

"I consider myself a bad singer. These guys (the channel officials) wanted someone with a 'besura awaaz' (tuneless voice), so I had no choice but to do it," he stated.

Ajit Thakur, general manager and executive vice president of Life OK, said that when he visited Akshay to do the dance-based reality show, the actor innovatively suggested: "Don't have a set!" Akshay said, "I didn't want the stage to be on the floor. I wanted it to be in mid-air, under water, on ice...I wanted to see how to make this show different."

"I'll be very proud if somebody from the international world calls up the channel's team to say 'We want to buy the rights of this show'. I'll honestly be very proud," Akshay continued to say. Much to his delight, the show has already caught the eye of many.

"On the basis of the promos, we have already got a query asking for the rights to the show from the eastern European market. It's a production house from there," Ajit Thakur revealed.

Needless to say, the contestants will have a completely thrilling and exciting experience with this out-of-the-box theme. The show features popular faces of the big as well as the small screen.
