Akshay Kumar donates Rs 9L each to the kin of martyred CRPF

Akshay Kumar donates Rs 9 lakh each to the families of the 12 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were killed during a recent Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh.

CRPF took to their Twitter handle to thank the 49-year-old star and wrote, “Akshay Kumar actor a true Patriot stnds with bereaved families of 12 #ShaheedsOfSukma & donates 09 Lac each. CRPF salutes noble gesture.”

Big-hearted Akshay transferred Rs 9 lakh each in the bank accounts on the respective families on Wednesday. The ‘Airlift’ actor donated Rs 1 crore and eight lakh in total.

“Kumar’s gesture exhibits his patriotism and devotion towards the country in general and CRPF in particular,” the paramilitary force said in a statement.

On March 11, 12 personnel were killed in a deadly ambush with Naxalities in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh when they were out on a patrol.

The deceased CRPF personnel have been identified as Inspector Jagjit Singh, Assistant Sub-inspectors H B Bhatt and Narender Kumar Singh, head constables Jagdish Prasad Vishnoi and P R Minde and constables Mangesh Pal Pandey, Rampal Singh Yadav, Goraknath, Nand Kumar Patra, Satish Kumar Verma, K Shankar and Suresh Kumar.

This is not the first time Akshay Kumar came forward to help the martyred soldiers. During Uri attack also the action star reportedly donated Rs. 80 lakhs.

He had said, “They are decorated with a lot of medals and that is good. But I looked at their faces. The honour was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical. I thought how about supporting them financially and that is when I decided to do my bit for each family present there.”
