Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ to start rolling from Nov 7

After being in the pipeline for almost a year, Ajay Devgn’s ambitious project ‘Shivaay’ is all set to go on floors this weekend on November 7. It is Ajay’s second directorial venture after the 2008 film ‘U Me Aur Hum’. The 46-year-old actor will also star in the titular role.

The first schedule of the film will kick off in the scenic town of Mussoorie and its adjoining cantonment Landour. The unit will then fly to Hyderabad and finally to Bulgaria where major portions will be filmed, according to reports.

The film will introduce Sayesha Saigal, grandniece of veteran actress Saira Banu, as its lead actress.

‘Shivaay’ was supposed to be shot last year in Calgary, Canada during winter months. Ajay, along with the cast and crew after a recce, had also gone to the location for filming, but returned without shooting a single frame. Reportedly, Ajay was not too happy with the weather conditions and the snowfall was not as he had wanted.

In February this year, the actor-filmmaker decided on Bulgaria for the the film’s shooting. However, he could not concentrate on the project as he had to shoot for Nishikanth Kamat’s ‘Drishyam’.

According to Ajay’s spokesperson, ‘Shivaay’ will start rolling from this week in Mussoorie and there is a long shooting schedule planned in various places. After wrapping up his other commitments, Ajay will devote his entire time for the project.  "He wanted to finish his other commitments to focus solely on 'Shivaay',” the spokesperson added.

‘Shivaay’ is centred on the imperfections of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and how it makes him strong. The first look poster of the film was released in May this year which revealed the actor’s toned body with a tattoo resembling Lord Shiva’s trident on his back and a snake on his right upper arm.

As of now, ‘Shivaay’ is set to release on Diwali next year along side Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
