Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ shelved due to budget problem

Ajay Devgn was busy with the direction of his upcoming movie ‘Shivaay’. He was quite excited and had started working on this project.  But destiny doesn’t seem to be favouring the ‘Singham’ actor. Latest reports say that ‘Shivaay’ has been postponed indefinitely.

If the situation worsens, it could even be cancelled! This bad news stems from the budget problems that Ajay is facing. According to a source, the actor doesn’t feel good about spending any more money on the film as he has already spent too much. As a source states, “Shivaay is a big budget film and around Rs.8-9 crore have already been spent on extensive research and on account of pre-production. Hence, Ajay is skeptical about starting the project now as he feels that the film might go way over budget.”

Ajay was recently in Canada for the shooting of the film. He planned to shoot the snow covered local landscapes as the background for the film. He needed heavy snowfall for the filming. But upon reaching Canada, he discovered that the snowfall was meager as compared to what he wanted. Ajay even waited with his team for a few days, for the weather to turn in his favour. But no good came of this waiting. He was therefore unable to film even a single scene and had to return.

The title ‘Shivaay’ has been derived from the Sanskrit chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’. Ajay was all set to thrill the audience with his lead role in the film. He had even got ‘Om Namah Shivay’ tattooed on his chest. Actress Sayesha – the grand niece of Dilip Kumar and beautiful Saira Banu, had been chosen for the female lead role. This new venture was significant for Ajay after he suffered two flops ‘Himmatwala’ and ‘Action Jackson’ in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

But meanwhile, the actor has other projects to keep him busy. One of them is the remake of ‘Drishyam’. The shooting is expected to start this month itself and the filmmakers have decided to release it in September or later this year. The movie is a remake of the super hit Malayalam drama starring Mohanlal in the lead role. It was the first Mollywood film to collect Rs 50 crore at the box office.

The other project in Ajay’s hand is the ‘Badshaho’, a Milan Luthria film. This would be Ajay Devgn’s fourth film with the filmmaker. Though the shooting would start this year, it is expected to hit the theatres in 2016.
